57AbstractABDie Erfindung betrifft eine Verfahren zur Erhöhung des Durchsatzes bei Flugzeitmassenspektrometern sowie eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Erhöhung des Durchsatzes bei Flugzeitmassenspektrometern, wobei man innerhalb der Driftstrecke 4 die einzelnen Ionenpakete 5, die der Extraktor 2 in die Driftstrecke einlässt, mittels in der Driftstrecke angeordneter Ablenkvorrichtungen 6 zur Erzeugung zeitveränderlicher elektrischer Felder ablenkt, wobei das Maß der Ablenkung derart ist, dass der Ort an welchem das abgelenkte Ionenpaket 5 auf den Detektor 3 trifft, mittels des Detektors 3 zuordenbar ist und man die Ablenkung als zusätzliche Information durch den Detektor 3 zusammen mit der Flugzeit erfasst, wobei man für jedes Ionenpaket 5 die Stärke des elektrisches Feld derart auswählt, das die Stärke des elektrischen Feldes nicht mit der übereinstimmt, die für das Ionenpaket ausgewählt wurde, das zuvor vom Extraktor 2 in die Driftstrecke 4 eingelassen wurde.
